This e-mail is a Call for Abstracts to be presented at the Annual Resident's Program of the Los Angeles Surgical Society scheduled for Thursday, October 2, 2008. (Please note that this Resident's Program meeting is a month earlier than in previous years.)

Selected residents from hospitals with approved residency programs present results of their work. These reports may consist of retrospective or prospective analysis of clinical experiences or basic research. The presentations are limited to ten (10) minutes. The material presented MAY have been previously presented elsewhere or have been published. Five or six papers will be selected from abstracts submitted. The presentation must be by a resident, even though a staff member is co-author.

The Residents selected to make a presentation will receive a cash stipend in the amount of $200. All residents submitting abstracts will be invited to attend the meeting as guests of the Society.

The abstracts should be sent to the Society offices to be received by Tuesday, September 2, 2008. Abstracts should be submitted via e-mail in Microsoft Word to jdowden@prodigy.net. Each submission will be acknowledged. Abstracts should be limited to 200 words and contain specific factual data. Residents are encouraged to use the structured abstract format. Please provide full contact information with the submission so we can reach the resident and the Senior Author.

The Board will be meeting to select abstracts on September 4th. The announcement of abstracts selected will be made immediately following that meeting. If you would like this notice sent to any affiliated hospital(s) or individuals, please send the name and address to jdowden@prodigy.net and we will include them in the mailing.
