Southern California Trauma Consortium

The Southern California Chapter of the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma established the Southern California Trauma Consortium (SCTC) in 2019. The Consortium aims to facilitate collaborations on research, outreach, education, and advocacy. All Trauma Centers in SoCal are invited to participate. Our region is unique for its high population density and the large number of trauma centers, which is ideal for large collaborative clinical trials as well as multi-institutional outreach, education and advocacy initiatives.

Dr. Eric Ley serves as the Founding Director of the Southern California Trauma Consortium (SCTC). The current director is Dr. Jeffry Nahmias. Initial projects were led by the founding Board Members of the Consortium and included whole blood in trauma (Dr. Galinos Barmparas), Trauma Simulation and Trauma Quality Improvement (Dr. Elizabeth Benjamin), Prehospital REBOA (Dr. Megan Brenner), and Stop the Bleed (Dr. Dennis Kim). Current projects are led by Dr. Jeffry Nahmias (research), Drs. Brant Putnam and Sara Edwards (Stop the Bleed), Dr. Matt Martin (ACS Clinical Congress annual program), Dr. Thomas Duncan (advocacy). Please contact Dr. Eric Ley (Eric.Ley@cshs.org) or Dr. Jeffry Nahmias (jnahmias@hs.uci.edu) or Dr. Areti Tillou (atillou@mednet.ucla.edu) for more information.
