Program Information

The 2022 outstanding agenda includes 30 paper presentations and 12 mini-podium presentations that focus on topics of interest to most surgeons, as well as papers that hone in on areas of surgical specialty, including minimally invasive surgery, bariatric surgery, vascular surgery, trauma surgery, pediatric surgery, plastic surgery, colorectal surgery, surgical oncology and trauma surgery.

Attendees are then invited to take a deeper dive into their specialties during in-depth specialty Sessions that include a combination of papers and presentations on focused topics in each surgical specialty. This year, Specialty Session meetings will include Pediatric Surgery, Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery, MIS/General Surgery, Trauma Surgery, Surgical Oncology, Colorectal Surgery and Bariatric/Metabolic Surgery.

A number of popular annual events are back for this meeting. Highlights include the “What’s New in Surgery” sessions, always an attendee favorite, which will be held Friday afternoon, followed by the Welcome Cocktail Reception. Saturday’s agenda includes the “Young Surgeons Breakfast,” the “Women in Surgery Luncheon,” and the ever-lively “Battle of the Blades” and “Resident Surgical Jeopardy” competitions. At the end of the day Saturday, please join your fellow SoCal surgeons for a relaxing Wine & Cheese Reception.

New to the Saturday line-up this year is a special interactive Town Hall event — “Life After Residency” — comprised of four short presentations with Q&As. Covered topics will speak directly to some of the most pressing concerns of our Resident and young surgeon members. The SCCACS is proud to offer this new meeting component because we know that supporting the success of soon-to-be and new surgeons strengthens the future of all surgical specialties.
